Use Infinite Scrolling On Your Tumblr Blog

Do you have a lot of posts on your Tumblr blog? If so, you would want your visitors to browse endlessly when they scroll down your blog, so that they do not have to view the next page and wait for another loading period. This is called the infinite scrolling on Tumblr, and in this article, we will show you how to do it easily.

Enable infinite scroll based from theme

This only works if your theme has an option of infinite scrolling. To find out if it does, go to Settings (gear icon) on your Dashboard, click on the name of the blog that you would like to update, and click the Customize button below the Theme name.

Browse on the settings on the left side of your Theme editor and see if there is an option called "Infinite Scroll" under Appearance. If it does, simply check it and save the theme. If not, proceed to the next methods.

Reminders and notes

The methods below make use of editing HTML and script codes, so be very careful when trying to follow them.

To avoid getting your Tumblr theme messed up when trying to get the infinite scroll code to work, always make a backup of your HTML code and paste it into Notepad or any text editor before you make changes on the code.

Enable infinite scroll through the description box

To do this, just go to your Customize Theme page (same way as above) and copy-paste this code on the Description box:

Hit save afterwards and check your blog if it scrolls infinitely now. If not, try the next step.

Enable infinite scroll through the HTML section

To do this, just go to your Customize Theme page (same way as above), remove (or cut / CTRL+X) the code you pasted above on the Description, and click the Edit HTML button above near the Theme. Find the section with the <head> on it and paste the code right above it. Hit save afterwards and check your blog if it scrolls infinitely now. If not, try the next step.

Enable infinite scroll through HTML and description box

To do this, simply repeat the step when you add the code on the description box and remove the code above the < head> section. Next, find {block:Posts } sections on the HTML section and for each one, paste this code before it:

After that, close the tag by inserting a </div> after the {/block:Posts} tag. Like the opening tag above, do this for each one you will find on the code.

Conclusion

Making your Tumblr blog to infinitely load content as you scroll down is a great way to save time trying to browse your previous posts, whether it is just for your own purposes or for every user who checks out your blog.
