Connecting Your Tumblr Blog To Your Facebook Account
Facebook is by far one of the most successful social media sites in the world today, that it is almost mandatory to share everything there since the majority of online users lurk around this site. If you have a Tumblr account and want to share your stuff with your Facebook account as well, here is a short tutorial on how to do just that.
Adding Tumblr to your Facebook account or timeline
To integrate posts between your Tumblr and Facebook accounts, go to Settings (gear icon) on top of your Dashboard, select a blog you would like to auto-publish or auto-share to Facebook, and go to the Facebook section. Check the "Share posts on your Timeline" option and then click the "Sign in with Facebook" link. Click "Log in with Facebook" afterwards to connect your account on Facebook with your Tumblr blog. Hit Save on the settings to apply the changes.
Sharing likes, replies and answers to your Facebook timeline
On an additional note, you can also enable Tumblr to share the posts you have liked on your Timeline, as well as the answers and replies to your posts. Just check these two options ("Share likes on your Timeline" and "Share replies and answers on your timeline") below your Facebook section in the blog settings page on your Tumblr account.
Manually sharing posts to Facebook
You can also choose which post to share manually after you have connected your Facebook and Tumblr accounts. To do this, simply uncheck the "Share posts on your Timeline" option and then click Save. When you make a new post, just click on the Facebook icon below to share the specific post to Facebook. This helps you control your privacy much better, especially if you have friends on Facebook who are not into your Tumblr posts.
Posting to your Facebook pages
If you are managing a bunch of Facebook pages, you can also share your Tumblr posts to it, as long as you're an admin of that page. Simply go to your blog settings and on the Facebook settings, select on which page you would like to publish your Tumblr content to. Click Save afterwards.
Notes about posting to Facebook
As of this article, you cannot post to Facebook groups yet, as Tumblr is still working on that feature. Also, you cannot control thumbnails and such when you post to your FB timeline. Only a few of your Tumblr posts are on the feed to avoid data traffic with the Tumblr app. Also, be wary that Facebook can have network issues and your post may be delayed, so be sure to try to refresh your feed from time to time.
If you are having trouble connecting your Tumblr to Facebook, you can also manually check your Facebook Tumblr app. You can try to remove the Tumblr app first and then re-enable it just like above.
Sharing your posts to Facebook is a good way to advertise your blog on Tumblr, but also be wary that if you post content that your colleagues and friends on Facebook do not like to see, it could lead you to trouble, so be sure to post responsibly to avoid any trouble. You can also choose to disable the connection with your Facebook account anytime if you feel that you want to keep your blog posts private.
